Nichia Corporation has been receiving inquiries "Now that Nichia abandoned the 404 patent, can the other companies manufacture the LED freely?" concerning our press release of "NICHIA ABANDONS "THE 404 PATENT"" on March 8.

However, these inquiries are obviously a misunderstanding of the content of release. Nichia holds numerous intellectual property rights besides the 404 patent and will take necessary measure against any infringements when they occur.To begin with, the 404 patent was not included in our patent strategies, and therefore the abandonment of the rights does not affect Nichias patent strategies at all.

As mentioned above, Nichia will take necessary measure to protect its intellectual property rights against any companies in any part of the world.
