Nichia Booth Highlights LEDs as a Primary Lighting Source for the Future Light+Building 2004 (Frankfurt, Germany)

The Light+Building show is the largest trade show of its kind dedicated to the lighting industry. Nichia Corporation is a regular participant in this annual show.
The 2004 show featured a marked increase in displays of LED technology and products, clearly indicating that LEDs will be a primary light source in the future. Judging by the wide range of LED products on display by global manufacturers, it is quite likely that LEDs will come to be used extensively in public and household lighting applications within a decade. Many of the 110,000 visitors to this year's show came away with a favorable impression of the immediate practicality of LED technology.

The Nichia Corporation booth was lit entirely with LED technology.
The booth drew 2,500 visitors during the show, amazing people with the future prospects of LED lighting.

Soft, Incandescent-like Lighting Lasts 10 Times Longer, Uses 90% Less Energy

The Nichia Corporation booth at Light+Building 2004 featured a sophisticated, mostly-white design that matched the mood of the exhibition space. The booth was designed to push back the frontiers of conventional large-scale, pure white LED lighting. LED lighting technology is in the spotlight around the world for its outstanding energy efficiency, ultra-long life span compared with incandescent lighting, and lack of hazardous substances. LED lighting has until now been associated with the pure white light of fluorescent lighting, but Nichia Corporation has developed LED lighting that simulates the natural brightness and feel of incandescent lighting. The Nichia Corporation booth at Light+Building 2004 was exclusively lit using a combination of sharp, pure white LED lighting blended with soft, incandescent-like LED lighting, which resulted in a relaxing lighting environment for visitors to the booth.

Nichia Receives Technology Innovation Award for LED Lighting Technology

The incandescent-colored LED technology developed by Nichia Corporation received the Technology Innovation Award at the Lightfair International 2003 show in New York. The technology used at the company's booth at Light+Building 2004 impressed many visitors with its refinements in terms of delivering improved power output and even better energy efficiency performance. The remarkable energy conservation benefits of LED lighting technology will enable Nichia Corporation to play a powerful role in reducing the power needs of society and industry. Nichia is dedicated to fully realizing the full potential of LED technology to benefit both present and future generations.
